Based on information engineering, we are promoting research into "Marine DX," which applies IoT and AI technologies to the marine sector. Currently, we are working on developing a highly accurate image recognition AI model using IoT technologies such as underwater drones (ROVs), stereo cameras, and TOF cameras, targeting the sakura shrimp, a traditional resource of Suruga Bay. A major pillar of our research is the construction of a "Marine Information Analysis Platform" to efficiently collect, store, and visualize diverse data obtained from the ocean. This platform can be applied not only to fishery resources such as sakura shrimp, but also to "automatic image analysis of marine microorganisms." Through the identification and analysis of microorganisms using AI, we aim to establish a new environmental assessment method that captures changes in marine ecosystems from a microscopic perspective. By integrating cutting-edge digital technology with on-site knowledge, we aim for socially implementable research that contributes to the development of the regional economy and the transmission of a rich marine environment to future generations.
